Another big mattress battle is about to begin, Casper against Purple, which one will win? Actually, both of these are good quality mattresses. However, there are also differences in feels and looks between them. The Casper vs. Purple mattress review will dig deeper into each mattress.

Purple Mattress Review

Construction

Purple is an atypical mattress to most mattresses, it is built from a 9.5″ mattress made from 3 layers of polymer and foam.

Top layer (cooling & comfort) – this layer is made of 2″ layer of hyper-elastic polymer. This material makes it very good at relieving pressure points. More ideally, this layer is designed to provide exceptional cooling feel. This is called “smart grid” technology, which helps improve breathability.

Middle layer (transitional support) –  this layer is constructed from 3.5″ of polyurethane foam. This layer acts a transitional layer. In addition, it helps enhance the deep compression support.

Bottom layer (foundation) – this layer is built from 4″ of polyurethane foam. This layer acts as the strong foundation for the mattress.

Cover

The Purple’s cover is constructed from a combination of polyester (69%), viscose (27%), and polyester-lycra (4%). Due to this unique blend, the cover is very well-made and highly breathable. Along with that, when touching you can easily feel the great softness of the fabric, and it is very stretchy as well.

Aesthetically speaking, the cover comes in completely white tone, but the diamond pattern scattered across the mattress makes it very modern and luxury. In addition, the way Purple embossed their logo to all 4 sides of the mattress also gives an aesthetic addition to the mattress. Overall, the Purple mattress’ cover has achieved its functional and aesthetic goals.

Firmness, Comfort, Support and Others

Purple provides unique feels for its comfort and support. In terms of firmness level, it comes in at a 6-6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the most firm. Due to this firmness levels, it can fit the needs of the vast majority of sleepers.

As the overall feels of Purple mattress, it can be described like these: first, the polymer material has properties similar to that of latex, which makes it very good at responsiveness and bounce. Along with that, the mattress can dissipate the pressure points for your body and keep your spine in proper alignment.

In addition, other mattresses that has 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale may let you contoured and sunk more, but Purple doesn’t have a pronounced contour for sleeper with average weight or slight sleepers. You will be floating on the mattress rather than sunk into it. This also means, many of heavy sleepers can get supportive feel from this mattress. Moreover, if you are looking a best mattress for couple this Purple mattress would be a great choice with regards to amorous activity.

Lastly, heat retention is always a big concern to consider when choosing a mattress. Ideally, Purple has a smart solution for it. Purple uses smart grid technology to create ultimate breathability for the mattress. The smart grid looks more like a webbed design with air pockets covering the entire surface. These air pockets allow air flow thorough the mattress easily, resulting in cooling feel.

Casper Mattress Review

Construction

Casper is a 9.5″ all foam mattress built from 4 separate layers.

Top layer (poly foam) –  this layer is built from 1.5″ of responsive poly foam. This responsive poly foam has good bounce, cooler feel, and quick responsiveness.

Second layer (memory foam) – this layer is made of 1.5″ layer of memory foam. It has a density of 4.0 PCF (pounds per cubic foot). It is firmer, which can well work with the top layer to provide pressure relief. Along with that, it reduces the sinkage from the top layer and create adequate contour and sinkage. The benefit of placing this layer below the responsive poly foam helps reduce heat retention issues.

Third layer (support foam) – this layer is made of 1.5” of poly foam with a density of 2.5 PCF. This layer is designed to act as the transitional layer between the above comfort foams and base foam.

Bottom layer (support foam) – the bottom layer is built from 5.0″ of support foam. It has a density of 1.8 PCF. This layer acts as the foundation for the mattress, which helps support the above layers.

Cover

The Casper cover is simply designed for the look. It comes with two tones, grey and white tone. The top portion of the cover is made up of 100% polyester and is quite porous. Due to this, it is breathable, which can improve the cooling feel for sleepers.

Along with that, the side panels being made from 51% polyester and 49% polypropylene. This blend aims to provide sturdy feel, and durability. Overall, Casper cover is nice enough but it doesn’t provide the high-end looks.

Firmness, Comfort, Support and Others

Casper also has medium firmness, which lands at 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This makes it fit the needs of the majority of sleepers.

The nice thing is the poly foam used for the top layer makes it easy to conform to your body and sink a bit it the mattress but never stuck in it unless you are a heavy sleeper. Along with that, it can be bouncy a bit, but not the way of latex can do. In addition, when compared to traditional memory foam mattresses, Casper mattress is also better at breathability. However, it never beats the memory foam mattresses designed with gel infusion.
