Leesa Mattress Review

Construction

Leesa is a 10″ mattress built from 3 layers of foam. Let’s dig deeper into Leesa’s details!

Top layer (cooling & comfort) –  this layer is built from 2″ layer of Avena foam. Avena foam has many similarities in bounce, cooling, and response to Latex, but the Avena has greater durability.

Middle layer (support & pressure relief) – this layer is made of 2″ layer of memory foam. This layer will provide the support and pressure relief for the mattress.

Bottom layer (foundation) – this layer is constructed from 6″ layer of support foam. The bottom layer simply acts as a foundation for the mattress. Additionally, it enhances the deep compression support for heavier sleepers.

Cover

The cover of Leesa mattress is cut from single piece of fabric and comes in an all gray color scheme with 4 white bars stretching across the foot of the mattress. This gives itself a unique look to stand out among the white-tone tops as the standard design on many online mattresses.

Functionally speaking, Leesa’s cover is constructed from a blend of polyester and Lycra. This unique blend makes the fabric fairly thick but very soft to touch, stretchy to wrap the mattress tightly and durable over time. In addition, the thickness of the cover also adds a slight cushion and comfort for the mattress.

Purple Mattress Review

Construction

The Purple mattress is a 9.5″ mattress and is built from a combination of foam and polymer.

Top layer (cooling & comfort) – this layer is built from 2″ of a hyperelastic polymer. This layer of the hyperelastic polymer provides great bounce, responsiveness, and pressure relief for the mattress. Its features are fairly similar to latex.

Middle layer (support) – this layer is made of 3.5″ of polyurethane foam. This layer is designed to act as the transitional layer and help enhance the support for the mattress.

Bottom layer (foundation) – this layer is constructed from 4″ of polyurethane foam. The bottom layer is designed to provide deep compression support for the above layers and also acts as the strong foundational base for the mattress as a whole.

Cover

The cover of the Purple mattress is built from a blend of viscose (27%), polyester (69%), and polyester-lycra (4%). Due to this unique blend, the fabric has nice feels. It is not thick or too thin, but indeed soft, stretchy and durable.

Aesthetically speaking, Purple also comes in a white color scheme and a scattered diamond pattern and their name embossed on each side of the mattress in design. However, all these things are combined to provide a unique look. It is very different from the cheap look, instead, it has actually achieved its aesthetic modern, and luxury look.

Firmness, Comfort, Support, and Others

Purple is designed to provide medium firmness, which lands at 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale (where 10 is the firmest level).

Purple firmness – 6-6.5 out of 10 (where 10 is the most firm)

With sleepers who have the average weight, which weighs around 150 pounds, the Purple mattress will let them sink a bit into the mattress. Along with that, it has a high degree of point elasticity, which allows the body to get more pressure relief and sinkage without dramatically changing the overall support. In addition, because the top layer has a nice bounce and responsiveness, it increases the comfort for sleepers when lying and turns over during the night.

More ideally, the Purple mattress is designed by using smart grid technology to provide the more cooling feel for sleepers. This means sleepers can get a restful sleep through the night without sweating and waking up during the night.

Prefer a cool mattress – The polymer and grid design allow air flow through the mattress easily and then improve the cooling feel for sleepers.

Prefer a modern and luxury look – as compared to Leesa mattress, Purple is obviously more modern and luxury in the design. The white color scheme on top doesn’t make it simple and traditional feel. Instead, it is well combined with the diamond patterns and achieves its aesthetic goal.
